On the 27th October 2016 Roban Stores officially opened their new superstore in Awka, Anambra State. The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and many other dignitaries honoured their invitation.
Roban stores is one of the leading retailers in the south-eastern region in Nigeria. We are focused on delivering quality service and value to our customers, staff and suppliers. These values make us different from our competitors. During a quick chat with the CEO before the commencement of the grand opening , he briefed us that today is a special days of his life because he is “bringing Roban Stores Home” he also added that ‘this is the biggest Roban Stores in terms of shopping space”.
The opening ceremony commenced soon after the arrival of the Governor. Opening prayer was said by the Arch Bishop of Enugu followed by cola refreshment and the opening speech/welcome address by the CEO. In his speech the CEO pleaded with the government to always support indigenous businesses by creating an enabling environment and loan grant for them. He said he is working towards opening another store in Ebonyi State and emphasized that he is not afraid of any competition. “My goal is to create a customer friendly business especially in the eastern part of the country” he added that if the government would give him the necessary support and enough land space, he is ready to compete with any foreign store. The CEO also mentioned that he currently has over 450 staff working under his establishment and that all his employees are Nigerians. He is willing to do more if only our government will encourage indigenous businesses in the country.
The governor in his speech expressed his gratitude about the establishment of Roban stores in the state and how it has created job opportunities for indigenes of Anambra state. He promised to provide security detail for the store. The governor proceeded with the cutting of ribbon and cake. He was led round the store by the CEO and his Son (Executive Director) to shop. Customers commenced shopping as soon as the governor left the premises. The event was colourful.
The Awka store is now open for business. The Awka store is situated next to the Central Bank of Nigeria and is right by the Enugu-Onitsha Express Way, making it easier for residents, travellers & tourists to locate the store.
